July 4, 2008. Leesburg 4th of July Parade.
We had about 20 cars turn out for
another great 4th of July parade in Leesburg, VA. The weather looked like it was going to be a problem, we even had a few sprinkles for
a short while, but eventually it dried up. And as you can see, there were plenty of spectators! Looking forward to next year.

June 22, 2008. 22nd Annual Rod Run.
Sometimes last minute activities turn out to
be a lot of fun. Today was no exception! Several members attended the Ted Britt Ford / Custom Cruisers of Northern Virginia 22nd Annual Rod
Run. All proceeds for the show went to Children's Hospital and Wounded Warrior Project. The weather was warm with a cool breeze, so we couldn't
have asked for much better. There was plenty of food, snow cones, and cars. Did I say cars? Well, this show had Mustangs, Chevelles, Camaros,
Cudas, Challengers, GTOs, Cobras, Novas, Hot Rods, a Pantera, America's Sports Car...Corvettes, and more. Two of our members even won "People's
Choice" awards. Special thanks to our CCNV and Ted Britt Ford hosts!

June 14, 2008. Birthday at the Ballgame.
It was a beautiful day for a baseball
game, that's for sure. Severe thunderstorms, lightning, and all the trimmings. But that was OK, because once we got rolling there was
nothing but fun from there. And yes, Corvettes do work in the rain for those of you wondering! Speaking of Corvettes...ODCC had an addition
to the family yesterday (Jim and Ann got themselves a 2000 Magnetic Red convertible). We arrived at the stadium, entered our reserved
box, and were greeted with plenty of food and drink (crabcakes, hotdogs, chicken wings, chips & dip, sodas, and cold beer). Then we waited,
and waited, and waited, and waited. It rained, and rained, stopped, and then rained, and rained, and finally the game was called off. But
all certainly wasn't lost. In fact, we had a great time despite Mother Nature dampening the event. Thanks to all that attended, and a very
special "Happy Birthday" to Leslie!

May 1, 2008. National Corvette Museum Caravan.
The first ever ODCC
caravan to the National Corvette Museum began in Leesburg at 8:00 AM Thursday, May 1, 2008. Our 3-car caravan spent the next 11
hours driving 700 miles to Bowling Green, KY. Highlights included visits to the Corvette Assembly Plant with the Capital City Corvette
Club, a guided tour of the National Corvette Museum, and a close-up and personal visit with the new ZR-1!. There was rain on Saturday
morning for our two-hour tour through the Kentucky countryside to Makers Mark Distillery, with lunch at the Whistle Stop. Sunday
morning we departed at 5:00 AM for the long trip back to Loudoun County. What a wonderful time higlighted with lifelong memories of
our little caravan!

Apr. 19, 2008. La Grange Winery Cruise-In.
For the second
year running, we had outstanding weather for this wonderful event. Special thanks to Bob, Michael, and all of the La Grange staff
for their exceptional hospitality. Corvettes (and their owners) came from miles around representing several different clubs. In
the end, there were a total of 76 Corvettes and more than 125 people that visited during the day. Longest distance driven was 175
miles. On behalf of La Grange Winery, ODCC thanks all of those folks that took the time to make this an outstanding event this year.
Mark your calendars for the same weekend in April next year, the winery has asked us back for a third year!

Dec. 26, 2007. Winter Karting.
While ODCC is
not typically a racing club, a few members did take advantage of the holiday season to test their driving skills. On Wednesday,
December 26th, folks headed over to All Sports Grand Prix, an indoor karting facility in Sterling, for a few races. In addition to club
members, we had a few family members including Bill Kolster's son, Chris, who was the Michael Schumacher (or Ron Fellows since this
is a Corvette club) of the day. After we finished up, the crew headed down the street for some much deserved wings and beer.

Dec. 1, 2007. 1st Annual ODCC Chili Cook-Off.
Well, it's over.
The first annual ODCC Chili Cook-Off has come and gone. Yes, there was plenty of "smack talk", but in the end there could only
be one winner. We had 10 outstanding entries that demonstrated a wide variance in cooking styles, spices, and flavors. We also
had 4 entries for cornbread...tasty! Our winners for 2007 were Rick Barnes for his chili recipe, and Leslie Lemish for her
cornbread. Special thanks to our hosts for the evening, Shane & Elizabeth Madigan. The plotting and planning has already begun
for 2008!

Oct. 20, 2007. Fall Skyline Drive Cruise.
The weather was
spectaculer for this year's Fall Skyline Drive. The Fall route was great as we took 522 out of Front Royal to 211. Once on
211, it was "let the games begin". All those Vettes were like hornets swarming around anything else that moved. Once we hit
the twisties, it turned into some good, old-fashioned high-speed driving. As you can see from the pictures, Massanutten was full
of great views, and served as a great destination. The final count was somewhere around 105 Corvettes. Another great "Toys for
Tots" event!!

Aug. 4, 2007. 18th Annual Manassas Cruise-In.
The annual Chuck Berge event
held in Manassas drew around 200 Corvettes of all generations. Donations went to benefit the Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. Although the
heat rivaled that of the surface of the sun, it was a good time. We spoke to several prospective members and handed out over 100 flyers.
Some folks were at last years' show in Sterling and said they planned on attending again this year.

In total, there
were 139 cars for the cruise. The oldest Vette was a '61. The folks that traveled the farthest to attend came in from
Tampa, FL. We drove out to Skyline Drive using Route 211. Curves were great fun!! Once we arrived, after a little confusion,
we all ended up in the same place for a group photo. Then we went to the Big Meadow for lunch. A good time was had by all!

again to perform an especially demanding project: One of the members was swapping out the original TH400 for a
Keisler TKO-500 5-speed. While the project took a bit longer than originally expected, members came out of the
woodwork to help with the swap. |
